Description

in this lesson students are going too learn about quantifiers which are too much/ too many/ too/ (not) enought. the context is a research into drinks. for example the different kinds of drink and how much drink and when.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of quantifiers in the context of food and drink

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

in this stage of class i will tell my students what i usually drink in a day. for example i tell tell i drink 8 cups of water or 3 cups of tea.

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

in this stage i ask my students what and how much they drink in a day. and i will tell them the studies have shown that an average person should drink 8 cups of water in a day and ask them if they drink enough water.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

in this stage i will write two collumns on the board the fist collumn are non countable noun like water, tea or rice and bread. the second collumn in countable words like apples, salads, carrots or candies. then ask them what the think the difference between the two collumn is.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

i will clarify the meaning of countable and non countable nouns, then i will introduce the concept of quantifiers and explain that they can be use with countable and non countable nouns. then i will present the quantifiers (too many/ too much/ too/ (not) enough. then i will clariy which quantifiers are for countable nouns and which are for non countable nouns.

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

i will provide a list of sentences and ask the Ss to first fill the blank individually them check in a group then with the wc.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

i will ask my students how much they drink water in a day and ask the other students if they think they drink enough water. they i ask them to tell me about theyre launch and dinner and ask them to use the quantifiers they learned in clas in their sentences.
