Description

In this 20 minute lesson , students learn about the family members vocabulary and a few adjectives describing them through some visual aids and a real context.It starts with a game in order to engage students , activate their background knowledge and elicit some target vocabulary. This lesson is followed by teacher presentation using some pictures and questions. Finally there are some practices via Students use the vocabulary they learned in this session.

Procedure

Lead -in , set the context (3-5 minutes) • To engage learners - to activate their background knowledge,

Teacher uses an authentic image . Set the context; what’s the topic? Ss will guess the topic . CCQ ? ; How many people are in this family? Do you have a big or small family? Do they love each other ? A Game . Rules are announced. ICQ ; How many words must you write? How much time do you have?

Modeling, drilling, concept check . (10 minutes) • To present the target vocabulary . At the end of this session students will be able to talk about their family .

Using the family tree pic . Ss find Tim . Answer the questions in pair . ICQ: How ? In pairs . Teacher checks the answer with the whole class . Teacher models and drills the new vocabularies. CCQs are written in the presentation file . After Tim Leeś family , teacher divides the matching items . Students find their partner ICQ ; how much time do you have? Only one minute ? Present Ana family in the same way .

Practice (5 minutes) • To provide students to practice the target vocabulary .
