  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation and drills in the context of countries

Procedure

Lead-in • Warmer and transition

Slide 1 This is just to let the students know that we are changing topics. Reintroduce yourself. Try to connect the previous session to the group. Omer was a mechanical technician for Turkish Airlines.

Grammar Example (1-2 minutes)

Slide 2-3 T will show the students sample sentences from the previous lesson to demo the present simple and continuous.

Clarification (1-2 minutes)

Slide 4 T will clarify the meaning of simple and continuous present.

Clarification - Activity (5-6 minutes)

Slide 5 T will clarify state verbs and action verbs Ss will work in pairs to do a word matching exercise Ss will go to the WB to complete the exercise

Clarification - Drill (2-4 minutes)

Slide 6 T explains how state verbs aren't usually used with present continuous T reads the state verb examples in present continuous form Ss are asked to repeat the verbs in better simple present form

Acticity (3-5 minutes)

Slides 7-8 T says: "Now let's look back to the recording you heard before and look at a few examples" (or something like it). S underlines the two verbs in sample sentences Another S determines if they are present simple, present continuous, or a state verb
