In this lesson, students are going to read a piece of reading about fast life pace and technology-based life style which leads to our impatience.

Abc SB and Pictures

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed, gist and scan reading practice using a text about Why are we impatient? in the context of Impatience

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of Types of numbers and some adjectives in the context of imatience, life pace

Procedure

Warmer (4-5 minutes) • To set context and engage ss

In this stage students are asked questions about their patience and they do the questionnare on book about "How patient they are".

Pre-reading (8-10 minutes) • To prepare ss for the text

In this stage students are going to learn new vocab items. Number types: 50%, 1/2, 9/10. time-wasting (adj), life pace (n), irritable (adj), frustrated (adj), impatience (n) Ss should make examples with new words.

While-reading 1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide ss with gist questions

In this stage ss read the article quickly and answer following gist question: •Do people like waiting?why/why not?

While-reading 2 (8-10 minutes) • To read the article again and answer qs 1-8 on SB

In this stage ss should read the article in order to answer more detailed questions. Then they should underline 5 technology words in the article.

Post-reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide ss with speaking-based questions and give them a chance to talk about the text they've read

Ss will be aske to discuss following questions in groups of 3: 1. Do you think the statistics are true in your country? 2. Which of the time-wasting activities annoys you the most? Why? 3. Do you think it's a good thing that life is getting faster? Why(not)?
