Description

In this lesson students will practice listening for gist, specific information, and listening to practice, and some vocabulary through the context of new technologies. the lesson starts about a discussion about the new technologies, then students will check their previous knowledge of the vocab, then matching picture withe word/ phrase as a meaning,Then I will gie the ss pictures of Don, Holly, and Kathy and tell them we will hear these three people talk about things from the exc A HO2 one of the vocabs, I will play the audio only ones and you have to tell me who is talking about what, I will ICQ, what you we do? How many times I will play the audio? shall you be fast? then ss will practice listening for gist, then listening for specific information, listen again, if we have enough time we will do listening for practice

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

what do you think about new technologies in our life, Our we more comfortable than the kings in the past ages.

Pres listening task (2-3 minutes) • Test the ss knowledge of the vocabs

Give imperative instructions, and model, stand at the middle front of the classroom, and tell the ss tick the words/ phrases that you already know in this HO. Use ICQ - what are we going to do? tick the words/ phrases that we know, Then I will collect the HOs and check it while the ss are doing the next activities.

Pre-listening, teaching the vocabs (6-8 minutes) • introduce the meaning and form of the vocabs

instruction: model and say that: work in groups match word/phrase 1-12 with picture a-l Answer Key as a whole class feed back: let us starts with numbers. 1-d. and elicit the form of the words and phrases if possible or I will help them a little bit. it is important to keep my TTT low here, let the ss do the job, if one s didn't get the meaning, let the others tell him not the teacher.

Listen & Drilling the vocabs (4-5 minutes) • listen and practice Drill the right pronunciation of the vocabs

play the ss CD and first time to listen then drill the right pronunciation

Pre-Listening (listening for gist) (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible ()

this is a pre-listening task, take the photos, and ask the ss to look at these pictures of Don, Holly, and Kathy. They are going to speak now about one of the vocabs. tell me who says what, work alone. the audio will be played just once. ICQ; what are we going to do? listen to the audio and tell who says what. check in pairs.

while listtening #1 (3-4 minutes) • listening for gist

who said what, check in groups, then a whole class feed back for the answers

While-Listening #2 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with specific information listening tasks

change the groups. Here we have some sentences has been said by the characters, tell who said what, write D for Don, H for Holly, K for Kathy. ICQ: what are we going to do? write the initials of the speaker in front of each sentence. work alone, replay the audio if necessary. check in groups

Listening #3 for drilling (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with more practice of the Authentic language and right pronunciation.

I will play the record 25, and ask the ss to pay special attention to the stress of the words in different contexts, play the record for just listening at first. then play for practice and drill. listen and repeat

Post-Listening (1-2 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

talk in pairs hypothetically about what do you have, and what you wish to have.
