in this session I am going to teach reading and vocabulary through the context about people lying about their weekend

Main Aims

  • To provide scan and detailed reading practice using a text about weekend activities in the context of a boring weekend

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of feeling words in the context of a boring weekend

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage, I will ask students "imagine your best friend won a lottery; how would you feel? students will start talking about their reactions and feelings

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage, students will be asked to guess the feelings they see in the given pictures and I will write them on the board. then I will ask them to say any synonyms they know. If they couldn't, they will be taught 2 or 3 more new synonyms; happy:cheerful, glad, delighted- angry: aggressive, furious, annoyed- sad: depressed, upset, unhappy- love:adoration, liking frightened: scared, afraid, terrified relaxed: comfortable stressed: anxious, worry bored: tired, uninterested

While-Reading #1 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

In this stage, I will ask students to take a look at the first paragraph and answer this question Do you think all of the people tell truth about their weekends? how many percent tell lie? how many adults were asked?

While-Reading #2 (13-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

I will ask students to do exercise 1.a. in 2 minutes in pairs. then I will ask them to do 1.b In 4minutes.Then they go to 1.c to correct the wrong information from the text in 5 minutes. Then we will check it together in 2 minutes.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In this stage, students will be asked to do exercise 1.d. in groups of 3
