in this lesson ,students will learn about present simple and present continous tenses in the context of IN THE PICTURE .

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of of present simple and present continuous in the context of in context of IN THE PICTURE.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of IN THE PICTURE

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The T will ask some general question which are based on present simple and present continuous tenses .For example,do you usually wear jeans ?-do you wear sunglasses?are you wearing?what are you wearing now?

Grammar (3-5 minutes) • guided discovery

the T will give Ss handout which the activity is based on (ex 4A pg80) and ask them to fold it and look at the following sentences and underline the verbs. ICQ:do we underline adjective or verb?verb 1-She always wears beautiful clothes. 2-He's wearing a white T-shirt. then,Ss are asked to tell about the tenses of sentences.

Grammar (3-5 minutes) • guided discovery -2

the Ss will be given handout which the activity is based on (ex B pg80) and ask them to fold it and underline the correct alternative to complete the following rules. ICQ:do we write or underline words?verb Rules : 1-Use the present simple / present continuous for something we do every day or usually. 2- Use the present simple / present continuous for something we're doing now or at this moment.

Grammar (5-5 minutes) • guided discovery -3

the will give Ss handout which the activity is based on (ex C pg80) and ask them to fold it and complete the the followıng sentences with the verb (wear). ICQ:do we write words?yes 1-What ……….you usually ………..to work/school? 2-What ………..you ………….now? 3-I usually ………….a suit. 4-Now,I…………….jeans and a sweater. then,the T will monitor and ask Ss to read the correct version of sentences as a feedback .The T will drill sentences and students will repeat them.

Grammar (3-5 minutes) • guiding question

The T will give Ss some pictures which the focus on (ex 5A pg80) and ask them to look and discuss what the man and woman wear in these pictures.students have to find some problems in these pictures as well.For example,the man usually wears tie at work .he usually wears suit at work.the man is wearing T-shirt.the man is wearing sunglasses.the woman usually wears skirt.the woman is wearing hat. ICQ:do we write or speak?speak then,the T will monitor and ask Ss to talk about their answers .The T will check Ss answers after their discussion of problems.

Productive Task (4-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skill

The Ss will do the exercise alone and then they compare their answers (ex B pg80).The Ss will underline the correct alternatives . ICQ:do we write or underline? T monitors and takes notes on errors and the the T will elicit the answes .

controlled practice (5-7 minutes) • To enable students to practice target grammar

The T will ask students to complete the information about the second picture.The Ss will have to provide the verb phrase using (wear-carry) in activity(ex C pg80).The Ss will be asked to justify the use of tenses. T monitors and takes notes on errors and the the T will elicit the answes .

speaking-1 (3-5 minutes) • To enable students to use target grammar to talk about

The Ss will be asked to look around at the clothes other Ss are wearing .the Ss will work in pairs to make this exercise more challenging.students will say six things they are wearing -four true and two false and their partners will realize which things are false.For example : student A:Im wearing a gray shirt. student B: True

speaking-2 (5-5 minutes) • To enable students to use target grammar to talk about

The Ss will Work in pairs and discuss what clothes they usually /never wear for following situations:(ex 7A pg80) 1- a walk in the country? 2-dinner at a friends house? 3-a job interview ? 4-meeting friends in a bar or club? 5-a party? 6-an exercise class? Then Student A: say the clothes he/she usually / never wear for the situations above.Students B:guess the situation.For example: A: I usually wear jeans and a top.I never wear shorts. B: A walk in the country? The T will take notes on examples of good language.
