Description

In this lesson, students will learn vocabulary related to making smoothies, such as 'smoothie,' 'blender,' and 'fridge.' They will listen to a story about a family making a smoothie, which will help them practice their listening and speaking skills in a fun and interactive way.

Main Aims

  • To introduce and practice new vocabulary related to making smoothies. To develop students' listening skills through a story-based activity.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To enhance students' speaking skills by using the new vocabulary in context. To encourage teamwork and collaboration during group activities.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Calling the rolls and greetings. Reviewing the previous session by asking the students to write one word related to diseases they remember and act it out while saying it to the class. Talking about T and Ss' favorite drink and eliciting the vocabulary related to the lesson. Making the smoothie on the board using the vocabulary.

Pre-Listening (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Teaching the new words by flashcards in details like part of speech and pronunciation. Asking students to repeat the words. The new words are: smoothie, Milk, Strawberry, mango, fridge, Peel, chop, Blender, lid, pour, clean up Showing the pictures of the story and asking students to guess the story and name what they see in the pictures.

While-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Playing the video, if not possible the audio file. Asking specific qs like: what were they doing, what did the boy forget about etc. Playing again and asking them to repeat the lines.

Post-Listening/ Production (3-5 minutes) • To give students the opportunity for using the words and talking

Dividing students into groups of four or five. Explaining the activity: Each group has its own ingredients And should make their own smoothie together. After two minutes one from each group as a volunteer should come to the board and explain the procedure. Giving feedback to each.

Homework • To practice and remember, and being ready for next part.

As a group work student should practice the story and be ready for a role play for the next session.
