To provide clarification of A2 target vocabulary of Bahcesehir University Prep School in the context of a reading text on Japanese art Anime
To provide detailed reading practice using a text about Japanese art Anime in the context of leisure
Procedure (47-65 minutes)
Students will watch a short video of a famous TV anime series and answer 2 questions about it such as "which TV series is these scene from?" or "is it an anime or a cartoon?" By this way, students will recognize that there is a difference between anime and cartoon.
Students will read the text "What is Anime" which will lasts 3 pages. While reading the text they'll see some highlighted words which are some of the target A2 words at Bahcesehir University Prep School. Studens will be asked to click on these words to see their definitons and parts of speech of the words below the text and hear the pronunciation of them at the same time.
Students will answer questions about the words they have just been exposed to. They will receive immediate feedback when they click on the correct option or incorrect option. If they click on the incorrect option, they'll hear an evil sound which seems to have come from an anime character placed on the page. Besides, they'll also see a cross image. If they click on the correct answer, they'll hear a win sound and see a tick image next to the options. After this stage, students will have practiced the words they learned.
Students will be asked to read the questions and drag and drop the words in the correct blank in these questions. If the students drop the correct word, the word will stay on the blank. If they drop the incorrect word, the words will go back to their original places. This means that students will get feedback while they are doing the activity.
Students will be asked to read the text again in detail and answer the multiple choice questions according to the text. Students will receive immediate feedback if they click on the correct or incorrect answer. If they click on the correct answer, a tick image will show up. If they click on the incorrect answer, they'll receive a cross image. Therefore, the students will have a chance to change their answers by seeing their errors.
At the end of the lesson, students will receive a celebration and they'll be asked to write a paragraph of their favorite cartoon or anime in minimum 150 words and they'll be required to use at least 3 of the words they've learned in the lesson so far. This task will be given as homework and checked in the following face-to-face session. By the end of this section, students will have a chance to practice the target language in a similar context they will create by themselves.
