Description

In this lesson, student will have been given the opportunity to practice some FCE R&UoE exercises, as well as some word transformation exercises using prefixes/suffixes.

Main Aims

  • To provide student with useful information on the reading and use of English part from the FCE, as well as some opportunities for her to practice.
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a oral assessment in the context of of an international qualification exam

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide student with general information on how part 1 and 2 work, how to approach those exercises and some practice opportunity.
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a picture description and discussion in the context of international qualification exam

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To activate student's engagement towards English.

Teacher provides students with some emojis and she will have to create a short story based on those emojis. Teacher provides one example and then listens to student's answers. Student provides her own stories and then listens to teacher's versions.

B2 Word Transformation Practice (4-6 minutes) • To provide student with an opportunity to practice her word transformation.

Teacher provides student a link in which she is going to practice her word transformation by using suffixes and prefixes.

Reading & Use of English Part 1 (10-15 minutes) • To provide student with useful information about this part and give her the opportunity to practice.

Student reviews what the first part of the reading and use of English paper consists of. Teacher provides some general tips on how to approach this part and then gives student some opportunities to practice.

Reading & Use of English Part 2 (15-20 minutes) • To provide student with useful information about this part and give her the opportunity to practice.

Teacher provides some useful tips and tricks to on how to approach this part. Student comes up with some other strategies that she might think would be helpful. Student is given some time to practice this part.

Speaking Part 1 and 2Practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide student with some useful information on how to approach speaking part 1 and 2 of the FCE.

Teacher explains what the task consists of and provides some useful tips, strategies and useful vocabulary. Teacher asks students some questions from the speaking part 1. Student practices her speaking skills within speaking part 1. Teacher provides some feedback on how she can get better marks.

Speaking Part 3 Practice (15-20 minutes) • To provide student with some useful information on how to approach speaking part 2 of the FCE.

Teacher provides some general information about the task and how to approach it effectively. Teacher provides some useful expressions or starters for this part. Student is given the opportunity to practice the part 2 of the speaking paper. Teacher provides some feedback to her.

Vocabulary Builder (15-20 minutes) • To provide student with some opportunities to review collocations, phrasal verbs and idiomatic expressions.

Teacher provides students with a link in which student has to match the collocations, phrasal verbs, etc. Student matches the idiomatic expressions she already knows, and the other expressions are explained by the teacher for further practice.
