In this lesson, students will practice some transitions and they will practice product writing in the context of festivals. They will read a model about Octoberfest in Munich and find transitions in the text. Then they should write about their favorite festival in their country.

Main Aims

  • Student will be able to use transitions to emphasize organization of major and supporting ideas in a paragraph.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of festivals


Lead in and Brainstorming (7-9 minutes) • To engage students

The teacher gives the HO and asks students to talk about the questions in pairs. T gets feedback by asking some students to talk about their partners.

Writing Model (8-10 minutes) • To familiarize Ss with the Model and transitions

The teacher gives the model to Ss asks them to read alone first and find find transitions then they should check in pairs. The teacher gets feedback and explains if there is a problem.

Conduct Writing (10-12 minutes) • For the students to practice writing about their favorite festivals

The teacher asks Ss to write alone about their favorite festivals and try to use transitions and relative clauses. Ss switch their writings and check each others'. T gets feedback and corrects mistakes.

The final version (6-8 minutes) • For the students to correct their writing and raise autonomy

T asks Ss to rewrite again and try to correct their mistakes. T gets feedback.

Error- Correction (5-6 minutes) • To raise accuracy

T writes some mistakes on the board and asks Ss to correct them in pairs. T gets feedback.
