Reading and Vocabulary
Upper-Intermediate level

Description

In this 45 min reading and vocab lesson, students will explore the demanding training and real-life experiences of two emergency front-line workers: a mountain rescue volunteer and an A&E nurse. Through this comparative reading, learners will develop reading comprehension skills such as identifying key details, inferring meaning from context, and understanding cause-effect relationships. The lesson also aims to build vocabulary related to emergency services, physical and mental challenges, and personal qualities required in high-pressure jobs. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to discuss the nature of emergency work, compare roles, and reflect on the personal commitment such jobs require.
