Description

In this lesson, students will learn to talk about their living space. Vocabularies concerning different rooms of a house and names of different furniture will be studied thanks to different activities.

Main Aims

  • Vocab - To introduce and practice lexis related to rooms and furniture

  • Speaking - Ss practice the use of the TL in the context of rooms/furniture

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Draw a house plan on wb and asks students "what is the word for the parts of a house?" "what is the word for the objects in a house?" - Write 'rooms' and 'furniture' on wb - Show pictures of differents rooms and furniture to ss and ask them "which room is this?" "what is this?" - Stick the pictures around the words on wb and categorise them

Highlighting (8-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

- Regroup students - Give instructions and demonstrate "we have different rooms" -show them the room cards "we have pictures of different furniture" -show the furniture cut ups "match the furniture with the rooms" - Ask ICQs "Do we have room cards?" "Do we have furniture pictures?" "Are we matching rooms with furnitures?" "Are we working alone?" - Monitor the students

Clarification (4-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- Prepare the laptop for listening - Tell them to repeat after the audio and start the drilling part - After each word is pronounced, write it on the wb and intoduce the stress - Drill again.

Controlled Pactice (7-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for a freer practice

- Regroup students - Show them the test and give instructions "Now we have a test and we are working in pairs" "We have five minutes" - After everybody is finished tell students to check the other group's answers and give them the answer key. - Applauses for the winner group

Semi-Controlled Practice (9-10 minutes) • To concept check further and practice more

- Give instructions "We have a find someone who game" "You will go to your friends and ask questions" "For example, do you have a tv in your bedroom? or do you eat your dinner in dining room?" "And when the answer is yes you can wrtie your friends name here" - Demonstrate it - After everybody is finished tell students read their answers

Free Activity (7-8 minutes) • To practice the TL

- Regroup the students - Give instructions " Draw a house in your sheets" " And decorate it with your favorite furniture" " And talk about your house with your partner" - Let students to read a few examples
