Abc Incredible English Activity Book

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of activity words in the context of 'At the Park'

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide listening practice for activity words in the context of 'At the Park'

Procedure

Beginning the Lesson (7-9 minutes) • Introduce Vocabulary.

Ask students where the characters are and what they're doing. Use flashcards to elicit vocabulary. Leave the flashcards on the board for when they're playing a game later. Ask Students to practice the new actions (e.g. jump) on the spot and play Simon Says.

Chant (7-9 minutes) • To practice and learn a chant

Play the chant and encourage the students to mime the actions. Play the chant and encourage the students to join in with the echo line and the final line. Divide the class into two and let them practice the chant.

Make the picture/word cards (10-15 minutes) • Consolidation and practice of vocabulary

Give out the photocopies of the action picture cards and the word cards. Let the Ss colour and cut out the picture cards, and then cut out the word cards. Then let them play a modified version of 'Snap' using these cards.

Activity Book (5-7 minutes) • Listening in the given context

On page 52 of the Activity Book, Ss will listen and number the pictures in the correct order.

Activity Book 2 (7-9 minutes) • Listening Activity 2

On Page 62 of the Activity Book, look at the picture with the Ss. Talk about what the children are doing in the park. Ask the pupils to point to the four different gates. Explain that they have to listen to the CD and follow a route through the park. They start at one gate, follow the path with the actions they hear and finish at another gate. The Ss then put a dot of colour on the gate they finish at. When the Ss finish listening they can colour the gates completely

Game (3-5 minutes) • To provide consolidation and to use as an energiser

Using the flashcards left on the board, play a modified version of a board rush with the Ss. Thank them and allow them to go on break.
