Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of constructions used to talk about the future in the context of movies

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about James Bond new film in the context of movies
  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of movies

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (9-12 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Short intro. Hand out small pieces of paper and ask them to write down a name of a movie character. Swap the names. Continue as in a game "Who am I?"

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Show the picture of JB. Elicit what's in the picture while pre-teaching the vocab: excited, military base, explode, enemy.

Highlighting (9-10 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ask them how the speakers feel about the movie. Play the listening part. FB. Ask them to find what the speakers think will happen next. FB

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Elicit and stick on the WB the three examples. Underline the grammar constructions to talk about the future. Do the matching exercise together.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Hand out the exercises. Do them one by one with FB.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Play the video. Stop. What's going to happen next? Discuss. Provide them with the words on the board and encourage to use the target language: survive, die, use a parachute, fall into the river, jump out of the car. Error correction.

Free Practice flexi-stage (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ask the Ss about their plans after the class.
