To provide Ss practice in scanning a text for main ideas and details
To provide practice with MFP of unit vocabulary
Procedure (29-38 minutes)
I'll ask each 5 or 6 pairs to write their full name on WB. Then I'll write 2-3 other names and elicit first, middle, last, male, and female names.
Ss will come to the WB and correct errors in capitals with names and common vs. proper nouns. Ss will take HO given by T and write the full names of their classmates then introduce their partners to the class. "I'd like to introduce my partner. This is..."
T will write sentences using vocab words on WB & elicit meaning from Ss. T will focus on and elicit context clues to arrive at meaning. Ss will complete p.5 after ICQs, monitor.
T will elicit word families that can come from vocabulary words. Ss discover the meanings are slightly different. T will elicit POS words. Model & drill pronunciation of words in sentences.
Ss will use the MFP learned to give a sentence of their own using a vocab word. The goal is to have ea. student give at least 2 different sentences.
