Abc Board

Main Aims

  • To review and produce language using all the tenses they've seen during the course.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To describe classmates using vocabulary of personality and behavior.
  • To use cause/effect and justification structures.

Procedure

Icebreaker (10-10 minutes) • To activate prior knowledge and introduce the game format in a fun, controlled way.

Write 3-5 prompts on the board and read them aloud. Examples: "Who's most likely to be late for everything?" "Who's most likely to get famous on TikTok?" Students vote by pointing or raising hands. Ask 1-2 students to justify their answer aloud in full sentences: "I think it's Mariana because she loves being on camera."

Preparation (10-15 minutes) • To ideate different funny options to play with.

Put them in pairs and ask each pair to create funny and creative sentences for them to use later with all group. Handle them cards with their classmates' names for them to vote during the game. Check their structures.

Game! (30-35 minutes) • To practice speaking fluently using speculation, reasoning, and class-based knowledge.

A student reads their prompt aloud. The students vote for the student who think is most likely to do the thing described in the prompt using the cards the teacher previously gave them. Choose 3 students to explain why they voted for that classmate. Write down who's the most voted in each round. Recognize the most voted person at the end of the game.
