Procedure

Warm-up (3 minutes) • To activate students' background knowledge and generate interest in the topic of childhood memories.

T tells a short personal story about looking at old photo albums at their grandmother’s house and remembering childhood. Then T asks students questions like "When you were a child, what did you use to do or what would you often do?" to personalize the topic and get students to share briefly in class.

Video work (4 minutes) • To introduce the target language (used to / would) in context and help students notice it through a short video.

T shows guiding questions on the slide. Students read them silently to understand what to focus on during the video. Then T plays the video. Students watch and try to find answers based on what they see and hear. After watching, T checks answers briefly with the whole class.

Grammar Focus (5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form, and use of “used to” and “would” for talking about past habits.

T writes two sentences on the board and explains the use and differences between “used to” and “would.” T elicits meaning from students using CCQs.

CCQs (4 minutes) • To check students' understanding of the meaning and difference of “used to” and “would

T asks CCQs to check students’ understanding of the difference between “used to” and “would.” T displays questions on a slide. Students answer orally as a class. T gives brief feedback and corrects misunderstandings if needed.

Summary (2 minutes) • To help students remember and understand the difference between used to and would.

T reviews the main points about the difference between used to and would with the whole class. Students can ask questions or give examples to show their understanding.
