Description

In this lesson students will learn functions, about dreams, ambitions and achievements.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To enable students to learn functional vocabulary to talk about dreams, ambitions and achievements.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To enable studetns to develop their speaking skills in the context of dreams, ambitions and achievements.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Lead-in: 4 min Google slides Present the subject talking about my dreams and ambitions: 1 min Ask 2 students about their dreams and ambitions, 1 question per student: 2 min - What are your dreams or ambitions? Share 1 with us please. - Is there something you would really want to do? Say my achievements and ask about her achievements to 1 student: 1 min - Tell us about 1 of your achievements, 1 that makes you proud.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Text work: 10 min Google Docs Reading for gist: 3 min - Read the text and answer the questions. Give instructions and model.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Intensive: 2 min - Find the phrases in the text and highlight/mark them. Get TL: 5 min - Put the phrases from exercise 2 in the correct columns.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

MFP: 15 min Google Forms -Answer the questions correctly (Google forms): 9 min -Feedback: 3 min - pronunciation: 3 min

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Controlled practice: 6 min Google forms -Answer the questions correctly: 5 min -feedback: 1 min

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Freer practice: 10 min -task 1: 4 min -task 2: 4 min -feedback 2 min
