Procedure

Warm-up (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students and set the tone

I will start by asking the students about their favourite sports, sport events, and the fact that do they do any kind of sports themselves or not, then I direct the conversation to talk about Olympics and ask them what they know about the Olympics, they don't have to know much since as we progress there will be facts presented in the book, the main point is bringing all the students in the conversation.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To go through Exercise 1 and 2

I will have the students look at the photos and tell me which of the photos they like the most and I will ask 1 student to read all the words loudly and then I will play the audio and will repeat with the whole class. (If the class was invested enough in the subject I will teach them some other forms of Olympic sports and will elicit the meanings in persian because the explanation will be above their level). At the end I will ask them which ones they watch regularly and which ones they have played by writing the latter question on the board and ask them to answer in Present Perfect.

Task (8-12 minutes) • To go through Exercise 3

Before getting to the Exercise 3 I will ask a couple of students to come in front of the class and mime a few sports so the whole class can guess to bring some fun into the mix, then I proceed to ask the students to identify which sport each icon is representing and then I will elicit the meaning of "announcer" and I will play the audio and will go over the answers with the whole class.

Task (3-6 minutes) • To go through Exercise 4

I have to play the audio and then elicit the meaning the event from the students and will check the answers with the whole class.

Task (10-15 minutes) • To go through Exercise 1 snapshot

First I will ask students about what they know about the Olympics then I will read the facts myself then proceed to teach the needed vocabulary by eliciting them from the students, and also will point out why Games is written with a G, at last I will pair students to write a short paragraph about their ideas for the Olympics and read it out loud for the class.

Task (3-5 minutes) • To go through Exercise 2 snapshot

I will explain the task simply and will ask students to fill in the blank with "now" or "in the past" and will check the answers with the whole class.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To go through Exercise 3 and 4 of the snapshot

I will ask the students to look at the photo and try to guess where the people in the photos are, there are some phrases and terms that are related to the conversation that I will elicit them using mime or explanation after 2 of the students read the conversation, please note that the students will play a huge role in guessing the meanings, then I will play the audio and drill the explanation of everyone in the class and then I will explain Exercise 4 of the snapshot and ask students to go through it and will check the answers with the whole class.
