Main Aims
-
To provide clarification of superstitions in the context of sports
Subsidiary Aims
-
Get the students to talk about their set of superstitions
Procedure (42-63 minutes)
I will proceed to talk about sports and what sports do students like the most, maybe telling some facts and figures about them as well and then start the lesson.
I will first pre-teach some vocabulary (superstition, superstitious, pitcher, javelin) then will proceed to explain the task and make it as a fun game between pairs of students so they can win by answering faster, then I will check the answers with the whole class by the use of the audio file so I can also monitor the pronunciation as well.
Moving to page 157 for the Vocabulary Bank, here most of the tasks have to be done using the audio files of the book, I will pre-teach some vocabulary but only if I see fit based on students' levels that I will have analyzed at this point, then I will go through each and every one of the tasks and ask students to do them individually or in pairs, I will provide further explanations if needed.
Here I will drill the pronunciation using the audio files and then myself to work on the pronunciation of the sounds /ɔr/ and /ər/.
I will put students in pairs and will ask them to ask and answer the Speaking section questions from one another and write each others' answers, then I want them to talk about the said answers using reported speech to evaluate their general levels again.
I will first pre-teach some necessary vocabulary and talk about the reading before we start it as a warm-up and then will ask each student to read 1 paragraph and then will go through all the exercises that I have simply explained with them individually.
