Teen 4C
High A2 / Low B1 level

Description

In this session, I'm about to review all the previous materials taught by the former teachers to the students of class Teen 4C, this includes reviewing of the grammar and vocabulary of units 4 to 6, assessing the general knowledge of each and every one of the students and finally preparing them for the next session where the actual teaching process starts for me. P.S. I have to have a proper introduction and greetings with all of the said students since it's my first session as their new teacher.

Materials

No materials added to this plan yet.

Main Aims

  • The main aim of this session is to review students' prior knowledge on what they have been taught before.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Perhaps teaching them anything they have missed or forgotten or have not been told about.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will explain about how this session is solely about reviewing and no new materials will be taught to the students, I 'll explain that they have to do a couple of tasks provided on page 48 and page 49 of Teen 2 Teen 4 and throughout the process we will spend quite some time on each task.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To go through Exercise 1

I will explain the task simply, then I will ask each student to read the conversation individually and answer the questions, in the meantime I will write "You know, you’re not exactly an introvert." on the board and will ask students "What does Gavin mean??" and then will write the answer on the board which is "Riley is actually extroverted." Notes: 1-I won't put the period at the end so students will have to tell me 2-I'll elicit the difference between introvert and introverted (n. vs adj.) 3-Then proceed to do the following: Ask Which person is a pessimist?? Why?? (Riley – he is worried about speaking to people in Spanish; he is worried about getting sick) Which person is an optimist?? Why?? (Gavin – he believes Riley will be fine speaking Spanish). Also eliciting the meaning of pessimist and optimist 4-Then I'll have 2 students read the conversation for the whole class.

Task (10-15 minutes) • To go through Exercise 2

Before everything I will ask one of the student to come explain the Present Perfect grammar on the board to the students, everything they know and have learnt, and I will add sth to it or maybe will go over it real quick but the main point is I will ask students to correct everything. Then I will elicit these words and their antonyms: introvert (extrovert); brave (cautious); calm (nervous); optimist (pessimist) The warm-up of this exercise is done. I will explain the task thoroughly and then will pair the students to check together and then will review it with the whole class. Then to finish this exercise I will ask the student to come to the board and write sentences using Present Perfect and the words taught a few moments ago.

Task (6-8 minutes) • To go through Exercise 3

I will explain the usage of "Have you ever....??" wit the help of the students,I will first ask them some questions like: "Have you ever read a newspaper in English??" and I will elicit a short answer. Then I will have them complete the task individually and will pair them randomly to ask and answer questions 1, 2 and 4 from one another and I will ask them to give me a complete answer that I have explained beforehand.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To go through Exercise 4

After 5 to 10 minutes of break time, I will teach the usage of already, yet, ever, for and since to the students by using their own knowledge, I will ask the students to make sentences with all of the words said above, and I will ask them to explain why they use it like that then I will write some examples on the board and ask them to complete it by their knowledge and if they're missing something, I will teach them, it's basically a review. Then I will explain the task and I will ask students to go through it one by one, and we will check it as a whole.

Task (3-4 minutes) • To go through Exercise 5

I will explain the task simply and will go through the example number one myself to give the students an idea of how to do the exercise and then I will ask them to complete it, and after that we will have a group conversation asking questions questions with "How long....??"

Task (3-4 minutes) • To go through All About You

In this part, students have to complete the answers for both Exercise 1 and Exercise 2 by writing down sth about themselves, Exercise 2 is completely on their own but an Exercise 1 I will tell them that for the first question they have to use Present Perfect and superlatives, for the second question, they have to use already, yet, or just and for the final one, they have to use either for or since.
