Procedure (52-60 minutes)
Instructions: Instructor describes short clinic scenarios using there was / there were + a quantifier: Students guess: What room is this? What happened? Pairs brainstorm their own 2 examples and challenge another group.
First Listening (with subtitles) Students fill out Cornell Notes: Left: irregular past verbs, quantifiers Right: what the vet saw/did, and where Bottom: one-sentence recap with there was / there were Second Listening Focus on pronunciation of past verbs and connector words (then, after that, before, later)
Instructions: In pairs: Choose 3 items from their Cornell notes (a verb, a quantifier, a location) Build 2 complete sentences using all three Share with another pair and identify which clinic situation it could describe
Teacher reads 3 incorrect versions of student sentences anonymously and has the class help correct them.
