Main Aims

  • To provide review of yes/no Qs or wh-Qs in the context of TV and TV programmes

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows a picture of " a couch potato" and elicit by asking some questions; what can you see? is he active? is he fat or thin? are you like this? do you know what does it call in English? a person who watches so much TV.(couch potato)

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T will make some questions about " a couch potato" ; Do you watch TV a lot? Who watches TV a lot in your family? What programs do you usually watch? whose finger is on the button in your house? introduce the questionnaire and model the task

Useful Language (5-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T gives the students the handouts with some prompts in the first column. They should make the questions about the prompts individually then check in pairs. T will monitor and give feedback. T will use correction if they have problem in making questions. Prompts are; number of TVs in your house number of hours you watch TV every day watch the news on TV record programs live without TV

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss mingle and ask the questions from 5 students. They should write their answers in the rest columns. T monitors them and takes notes of their mistakes. After finding different answers, they talk in a group about the ideas. This can be also whole class activity teacher will ask them to talk about the answers they have found.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T will ask whole class to report the findings such as " how many people watch the news?" or " how many people record the programs?" T will also correct their mistakes indirectly with whole class.
