Main Aims

  • To provide skimming and detailed reading practice using a text about phobias.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice using a text about phobias.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage, i will ask the students to look at the first part of the page and i will ask them questions If they have been afraid of anything in their life in groups.

Pre-Reading (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage, I will teach the students the following 5 fears in the book so the students can learn and some different kinds of meanings like panic, frightened, dizzy and etc.

While-Reading #1 (3-4 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

In this stage, I will ask the students to skim the passage of part b and then match the fears with the passage.

While-Reading #2 (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Then i will ask the students to read in detail the part c then they will be asked to match the fears of part b to part c comments.

Post-Reading (4-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Then in this stage i will ask the students to look at the highlighted words in the comments then they have to match it after that i will ask them questions like if you know about your friend that has a phobia or not.
