Main Aims

To provide review of present simple in the context of free time

Subsidiary Aims

To provide practice of language used for small talk in the context of getting to know people

Procedure (76-104 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Face2Face p.26 (picture) - Who are they? - Where are they? - Do they know each other? - Are they good friends?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Vocabulary: (F2F, p. 26) Stay in: Are you inside of your flat or outside of your flat? Eat out: Are you eating at your flat or at a restaurant? Concert: Live music Visit: Go see - pronunciation drills > Ss work in pairs and tell their friends 5 of their favorite things to do on weekends (or in their free time)

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Daily routine review: What do you do on Sundays? > write TL on WB A: What time do you get up on Sundays? B: Around 11 o'clock, and you? - WC FB

Clarification (15-20 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1. F2F Dialogue 53 p.156 - read out loud for the students > p. 26 T or F HO - read the text again > p. 26 2 (b) - WC FB 2. I/we/you/they/he-she/it don't/doesn't HO 1 - Ss complete the chart and practice/compare with a partner (speaking) - WC FB

Controlled Practice (25-35 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

English Vocabulary p.28 & p.29 - highlight> everyday, sometimes, "How often" > WC FB

Free Practice (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
