Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a clear and persuasive advertisement, using appropriate vocabulary, structure, and tone to promote a product, service, or event.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Students will be able to correctly use 'one' and 'ones' as correferents to avoid repetition in speech and writing.

Procedure

Warmer (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Introduce the task T. Asks: Have you ever written an ad to buy something or to sell something? Do you ever use ads to buy something? What information is usually in an ad?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading.

Activity A: T. Reads the questions aloud. - Ss read the ad silently to themselves. - Answer any questions about unfamiliar vocabulary, such as give a green light to (allow to happen or move forward). - Ss discuss the questions in pairs. - Ss share their answers with the class

Productive Task(s) (15-20 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

Activity B T. Reads the instructions aloud. - has a volunteer read the information and the example aloud. - Ss do the task in pairs. - Check answers as a class Then, she explains the use of one/ones - After the explanation, she asks them to solve activity C

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Feedback and Error Correction • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Students hand in the worksheet to the teacher so she can provide feedback after the class.
