Main Aims

  • Review this week’s vocabulary and grammar in context (irregular past verbs, sequencing, there was/were, quantifiers)

Subsidiary Aims

  • Celebrate the week’s progress with a game-based recap

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Instructions: Board 10–12 words from the week’s listening topics (verbs, connectors, quantifiers). In small groups, students: Choose 4 and write short sentences (from memory or imagination) Instructor highlights 2–3 good examples and checks forms.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (38-40 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Instructions: Prepare bingo cards (or slides) with common phrases/words from the week (e.g., went, had, found, after that, there were, a few). Play 3–4 audio segments (from used material or scripted sentences) and students mark what they hear. First to bingo wins a small prize (e.g., chocolate, candy, etc.).

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Students read aloud 1–2 words or phrases they marked and use them in a quick sentence. Group reflection: What was easy to understand this week? What is one thing you still want to practice?
