Procedure (84-90 minutes)
Activity: Each student draws a card and forms a sentence using: An irregular past verb There was / there were A quantifier (a little, a few, many)
Activity: Describe the Clinic Instructions: Students receive short fictional clinic scenarios (e.g., full waiting room, empty operating room, overstocked shelf). In pairs, they: Describe the setting using there was / there were Add at least one irregular past verb action Use a quantifier Then they present their mini-scene to another pair. Activity: Busy or Not? Group Decision Challenge Instructions: In groups of 3–4, students are given 2 contrasting clinic summaries (busy vs. calm day). Each student receives one detail from the day and must describe it using: An irregular past verb There was / there were A quantifier Group goal: Decide which day was more stressful, and why. Then present their decision using evidence from each speaker.
Each student comes up with 2 true sentences and 1 false one from today’s activities. In pairs, they read them and guess which is false. Write 3 sentences about a past clinic or workday using: 2 irregular past verbs At least one quantifier One sentence with there was / there were
