W4 Speaking June 2 - Monday
A1-B1 Vets Gen2 level
Materials
Main Aims
-
Review Week 3 content: past simple, sequencing, and clinic narratives
Subsidiary Aims
-
Vary speaking output using individual, pair, and group activities
Procedure (84-90 minutes)
Materials: Cards with past verbs and time expressions (last week, yesterday, after lunch). In pairs, students draw one of each and create a sentence. Example: drew "cleaned" and "yesterday" → "Yesterday I cleaned the waiting area."
Task 1: Rotating interview rounds Instructions: Students rotate partners every 3 minutes. Each round focuses on one of these prompts: What did you learn last week in English? What was a difficult word you remember? What’s something you can now say more confidently? Encourage full-sentence answers using past simple + time expressions. Small Group Story Assembly Instructions: Groups receive a shuffled set of actions (e.g., examined a pet, cleaned a table, took a break). They must: Build a logical past-tense story in 6–8 steps Choose a setting (clinic, home, etc) Present it using sequencing phrases (then, after that, finally) Stories do not need to be real — creativity encouraged
Language Ladder Instructor writes a short, awkward paragraph on the board with past-tense errors and poor sequencing. Example: I work in the morning. Then I see the cats. I calling the owner. Class works in teams to improve it, focusing on: Verb form Clarity Connector use
