Description

In this lesson Ss will learn about Malaproprism and Spoonerisms. the lesson starts with a listening about these two subjects. they will learn that even native speakers makes mistakes when they are speaking. In the next part , they will extend their vocabulary through the suffix of "-ism".

Procedure

Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will ask students about other different ways that you can make a mistake in speaking and then tell some sentences with malapropism and spoonerism. Ss will work in pairs. T will elicit the wrong words and write them on the board. the sentences could be: I went to a market to get some keys, carrots and lettuce for salad. I forgot to water my pants. I usually eat a soul of balad for dinner. do you want a cuff of cupee?

Pre- listening (5-8 minutes) • To elicit the meaning of two words ;malapropism and spoonerism

T will tell the Ss that they are going to listen to an audio about malapropism and spoonerism. they can read the ex 1 before listening. after listening Ss will complete the chart int ex 1 and check the answers with their partners. T will give them the answer key afterward.

while-listening (8-10 minutes) • to listen to examples and teach some vocabulary items

T will play the audio and ask them to complete next exercise which is finding the examples of malapropism and spoonerism. Ss will check the answers in pairs and then Then T will give them the right answer

Post-listening (5-8 minutes) • To practice more examples about spoonerism and malapropism

Teacher will tell Ss to do exercise 3 and ask students to work in pairs. After they finish, students check with their partners and listen to the audio to check if their answers are correct. Teacher will get feedback , work on the new vocabulary items and move to the next stage.

Extension (5-8 minutes) • to practice more vocabulary items end with -ism

T will divide the students into 2 or 3 groups and start to ask question. it is a match they should talk in group and find the answer . first group can answer the question should say banana. Winner is the group who answers to more questions
