Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about Five people talking about five things

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy
  • To provide detailed and gist

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage ,students will be asked to look at picture ,title,question 1 and then different activities .Next, i will ask them to express whatever they think about picture and title to give their deduction.

Pre-Reading/Listening (2-4 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will write some new vocabularies and phrases existing in the recording and text such as,take me much longer or take me about half an hour,move to A from B,vegetarian,freelance writer,on average

While-Reading/Listening #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will give students 2minutes to read the text again and then students will listen to the tape to answer question 1 part a .(They should write number of speakers next to the topics given) .Next ,i will ask them to share their answer to be checked by either me or other students

While-Reading/Listening #2 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

In the part b of listening ,i will give students 2min to read question and write the number of speakers in the blank according to activities that they do.Next , students will listen to the recording again to answer part b.Then, they will have 2min to check their answers in pair and i ask their answers

Post-Reading/Listening (2-4 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In the part c of listening ,i will ask students to answer questions 1 to 3 given in part a in pair and have a conversation with their partner about whose life has changed the most ?
