List 4 clinic actions on the board (e.g., checked a patient, cleaned a table, called a client, organized supplies). Ask students: What order do you usually do these in? What’s the first thing you did yesterday? Pairs discuss and create a quick 3-step timeline on paper using past verbs.
First Listening (with subtitles if available) Students complete their Cornell Notes: Left: vocabulary, regular past verbs Right: events or steps in the vet’s day Bottom: summary sentence in past tense Second Listening (no subtitles) Students focus on time expressions and sequencing words: after that, then, later, in the morning
Students work in pairs. Compare their Cornell timelines Identify 1 difference and 1 similarity Retell the vet’s day in their own words using 3–4 past verbs Encourage use of transition phrases like "then", "after that", and "finally".
Instructor writes 3 example phrases from the clip on the board. Students identify the verb, pronunciation pattern, and meaning. Homework: Choose 2 past verbs from today’s notes. Write a sentence for each using a sequencing word (e.g., before, after, then).
