Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Activity: Ask students to brainstorm in pairs: What tasks did you complete at work yesterday? Which ones were routine, and which were unexpected?

While-Reading/Listening #1 (23-25 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

First Listening (with subtitles) Students listen and identify 3–5 completed tasks using the Cornell format: Left Column: new vocabulary or past verb forms Right Column: what happened and when Bottom: one-sentence summary Second Listening (no subtitles) Students listen for pronunciation of -ed endings: /t/, /d/, /ɪd/

While-Reading/Listening #2 (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Each student selects 3 regular verbs from the video. Sort the verbs into pronunciation categories Create 1 short sentence for each Quiz their partner: say the verb, partner guesses pronunciation and corrects

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Class shares 3 new verbs from their notes. Instructor writes a few model sentences on the board and reviews pronunciation as a class.
