Procedure (37-48 minutes)
Ask students: “What are you wearing today?” What clothes do you usually wear at work or special day? Or What clothes do you wear at home and.....Brief student pair discussion. Students match words with clothing on the picture. Practice pronunciation in pairs
Students look at the vocabulary on clothes (Activity 1a) and match the words with the pictures. I explain any new vocabulary and ask students what they usually wear using the structure: What clothes do you usually wear to... work / at home / on weekends? Then we listen and repeat (Activity 2a) for pronunciation practice with /ə/ and /ɑː/.
I show the painting again and play the audio (Activity 4a). Students listen and identify the people and objects. I then play it again for students to mark the True/False sentences (Activity 4b)
I explain the difference between present simple and present continuous using the grammar activity (Activity 3b). I underline and elicit answers, then explain the grammar rule clearly. Students repeat the correct answers.
In pairs, they use Activity 6 to describe the painting using present continuous and prepositions. Questions: What are they doing? Where are the objects? What do you think about the painting?
