Description

In this lesson students will learn some everyday objects. They will listen to three people talking about the things that they have in their bags, doing predictions, gist and specific listening tasks. They will follow this up with a short speaking about what they have in their own bags.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about the things that they have in their bags in the context of everyday objects.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To review and practice the names of common objects and to introduce and practice a/an and singular/plural nouns in the context of everyday objects.

Procedure

Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To engage the students

I will enter the class with a bag full of different objects and attract students' attention to my heavy bag and make them eager to know about the objects that I have in it. I will also elicit some guesses about what I have in my bag.

Input (7-9 minutes) • To teach the students new vocabulary and prepare them for the listening section

I will show the objects to my students and elicit the words from them. I will also emphasize on the use of a/an indirectly.

Controlled practice (2-3 minutes) • To practice the new words

Students will complete the exercises of the book. They will match the words with the pictures. they will also complete a fill in the gaps excersise about a/an which they practiced indirectly in privious stage. Ss check in pairs WCF

Lead-in (7-9 minutes) • To engage the students and prepare them for the listening section

Show the book pictures to the students. In pairs predict their jobs and what they have in their bags. WCF

Listening 1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist listening

Listen and say: where is each person from? Ss check in pairs idividual feedback

Listening 2 • To provide students with more challenging detailed listening

Listen and mark things in each person's bag. Check in pairs Individual FB

Post-listening (10-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they have learned

In groups students will discuss what is in their bag and who has the same things?
