Practice listening for sequencing and time-based structures (before, after, at, then)
Procedure (52-60 minutes)
Activity: Draw a simple morning schedule on the board (empty timeline). Ask students: What do you usually do before 10 a.m. at the clinic? What comes after the morning exam? Write answers in a timeline sequence using expressions like before, then, after, at.
First Listening Students identify the order of 5 actions using sequence markers. Second Listening Students underline or check time expressions: before, after, at, then, during. In pairs, students reconstruct the order on a timeline handout.
Order the Routine Students are given jumbled descriptions of vet tasks (sentences or images). They must: Reorder them into a logical clinic day using expressions heard earlier Explain the order to a partner using: before, after, and, then Optional challenge: Add time estimates to each task.
Ask: What time expressions helped you understand the speaker’s routine? Which words or phrases would you use to describe your own day? Homework: Write 5 sentences about tomorrow’s clinic tasks using before, after, or at.
