Description

In this lesson, students learn to talk about their daily routine by using collocations and time.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about daily routine in the context of telling the time

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and practice of collocations specifically used when talking about a typical day

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and warm students up through real life situations

T shows some pictures from every day activities and encourage ss to find what they are. Then T shows the pictures with the collocations that would be used to express each situation

Pre-Reading/Listening (12-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1. T distributes small pics with activities written on 2. T writes hours on the board and asks ss: "What do you do at.....?" First gives an example and then nominates couple of ss to reply 3. T asks students to think of the answer and stick the activity under related hour on the board 4. T drills and model for pronunciation of each daily activity 5. T tells ss to work in pairs to ask the question each other and answer

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T distributes a reading task and asks them to read T tells ss to do the T/F task and then asks them to pair check Feedback

Post-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T distributes the handouts, draws the same on the board and asks ss to find the correct usage in pairs Then selects one s from each pair to write on the board. If anyone makes a mistake, ask ss to find. T asks ss to find the difference between through CCQ: - go home and get home - wake up and get up T corrects the mistakes she noted during the lesson
