Procedure (15-23 minutes)
In this stage ,I will show some old pictures about some actions which are in progression and ask students whether images are about past or present to help them be ready for next steps
In this stage i will write some examples of past continuous combined with past simple on the board to attract students' attention
I will clarify the meaning of past continuous and combination of simple past and past continuous by outlining the timeline and ask some CCQs (are the sentences about past or present?Moreover,i will explain the difference between past continuous and simple past which past simple is a completed action in the past and past continuous is an action in progress at a specific moment.Next,i will write the structure related to past continuous : subject+ was/were+ verb+ing+ complement.Finally,i will mention briefly some irregular verbs and show their past and gerund forms and show the manner of pronuncing of them ,to name but a few,said,thought,taught,bought,flew(flying), swam(swimming),lied(lying),lay(lying),fought(fighting) .At last ,in sum,i will show how to make questions with past cantinuous.
The students are going to do exercises 2B page 132 in the grammar bank in 2-4 minutes and then I will correct answers if needed.
I will ask students to have a conversation in pair about activities which they had in one of the their journeys .(students will receive at least 2minutes to do the task)
