Materials

Abc "Face to face",Students'book,pag 22-25. Teacher's book,p.143.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of Daily Routines by using Wh- Questions.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of Present Simple in the context of Daily Routines

Procedure

Stage 1 - Survey/Mingle Activity (16-20 minutes) • Increasing STT

T passes out the survey papers and asks Ss fill them in with info about daily routines. Then he asks Ss to go around the class and ask questions to other Ss to complete their worksheets. T does the same too to encourage weaker Ss if necessary. T tells the class 2 things that he and other students do at the same time. 'Ahmet and I (both) get up at 9.' Then asks Ss to come on the WB and fill the boxes as a FB.

Stage 2 - Info Gap Activity (12-14 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target skills

T asks married Ss about their daily routine with their partners in order to make it clearer how the activity works. Then he introduces the couples on the worksheet. T puts Ss into pairs and gives the worksheet copies. Then he asks Ss not to look at each other's papers. T tells Ss that the husband and wife in each couple work together and have the same daily routine. Ss take it in turns to ask questions to complete their worksheet. When Ss have finished, they compare answers with their partner. At the end, T projects the p.143 on the WB and WCFB takes the stage.

Stage 3 - Memory Contest (8-10 minutes) • to wrap up the lesson and recap daily routine vocabulary.

T divides Ss into 2 equal groups then passes out the paper slips. Ss write their answers on the back of the paper slips, fold them again, then change with someone from the other group. T takes the papers back, opens one by one to check how many correct answers the groups have then he announces the winner group.

Stage 4- If time activity (6-8 minutes)

T writes 'tea, coffee, juice, water' as underlined titles on WB and asks 'How many people usually drink tea/coffee/juice/water in the morning?' and writes Ss' names below the titles. Then T discuss their choices by relating personalities relying on an article. http://worklifeasia.roberthalf.com/lifestyle/choice-morning-beverage-says-work-personality/
