In this lesson students will learn about prepositions of place

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of elements from the house like (bookcase-curtains-sofa-plant-lamp) in the context of house
  • To provide gist, detailed and specific information listening practice using a text about prepositions in the context of house Ex 5a P23.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of language used in the context of Ex2, p21.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show Ss some pictures of people looking for things in their homes and ask Ss to say what is happening.

Pre-listening: (6-8 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

I will ask SS to answer a digital form quiz on quizzes on items in the house, then I will teach some problematic words (bookcase, curtains, sofa, plant; I can do that quickly through pics) as a matching activity.

Listening (exposure): • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

i will play the listening showing the the pictures in front of them, providing them with a demo

Language presentation (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

I will start with Ex2, p21. Then while eliciting, I will use some different pictures to check Ss' understanding. I can use things in the classroom if possible. Then I can focus on pronunciation.

Controlled practice: (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Ex3a (do a demo first), then Ss check together to see if their classmate has got the correct place.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ex7, p. 22. (I will do a demo first.)
