Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show photo on the over head projector of people doing various activities. Put Ss in pairs. Ask them to talk to each other about 'what are they doing' in the photo. After a few minutes, students will write on WB what each person in the photo is doing.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

T will give instructions for the listening HO. T will then handout HO to Ss. Then T will play audio and Ss will fill in the missing words from the wordbank on the HO. T will monitor. If Ss seem like they're having trouble, T will play audio again. T will write questions on WB and have Ss come up to the WB and fill in the gap to check the answers.

Teach (5-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T goes over the problems she noticed while monitoring. The lesson will be on the present progressive: to be + verb + -ing If Ss still seem confused, T will act out certain actions. For example, 'I am sitting in a chair,' "I am writing on the board,' 'I am walking'......

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T will give Ss clear instructions to do the next HO. In the first part of the exercise, Ss will have to fill in the correct -ing form. T will write the questions on the WB and Ss will come up and fill in the answers. In the second part of the exercise, Ss will write sentences to match the photos. The WC will go over the answers by writing them on the board

Free practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Teacher will post photos of cats around the classroom. T will give instructions for Ss to walk around and match the cat photo with the HO. After Ss are finished, on the WB, T will write the beginning of a sample sentence: "The cat is......." and tell Ss to write sentences with the answers from the activity. WC will go over the answers
