In this lesson students will learn to speak using collocations of say and tell.
Materials

Subsidiary Aims

to provide students with different collocations of say and tell and also some methods to develop their answers to the questions.
Procedure (37-45 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
write say and tell on the board and ask students to add as many collocations as possible
Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening
students will fill the gaps with say or tell teacher will show the answers on a slide. students will fill out the diagram and put the words into the two groups of tell or say
Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills
teacher asks the student the questions and makes sure they use the collocations in their answers. considering the answer that the students gives, teacher gives her some comments about how to start the answer and how to develop the answers.
Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
teacher writes notes on the board and students check the errors themselves. teacher might help if necessary.
