Description

In this lesson students are going to learn about past simple sentences through PPP in the context of Holiday. The class will be started by talking about the things that I did yesterday and then I will ask them to talk about their last day. After clarifying the tense I will ask my students to talk about their best holiday ever to help them use the TL in speaking.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start the class by talking about the things that happened yesterday and the things I did. I will ask my students to say if they have had a similar day.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will write some of my students sentences on the board in the correct form to draw their attention to the TL.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the meaning by drawing a timeline on the board and elicit the meaning by asking some CCQs like: (Is the action about the past, present or future? past) (Is the action completed? Yes) (Can I mention the time in this sentence? Yes). I will work on the form by asking my students the role of the words in the sentences (sub/verb). I will work on the regular verbs by giving them some examples of verbs that we add ed to them.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students are going to do exercise 1A on page 45 in 4 minutes individually. after that they are going to check their answers in pairs.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to talk about their best holiday ever in groups of 4.
