Description

In this lesson students will practice the vocabulary from the first lesson and the grammar from the second.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask Ss to name family members: grandfather, grandmother, mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, cousin. Draw a word web on the board with family in the middle. Do the first one. Ask Ss to write on the board.

Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Show a PPt. and ask Ss to stick the words under the correct relationship.

Controlled Practice (20-27 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Divide class into 2 groups. Each Ss will have a copy of the family tree. Group A will have worksheet A and Group B worksheet B. Each group will work in pairs and complete their worksheet. Monitor Ss. Peer checking - Compare with another pair in their group. Each group will check against an answer key. Take all the worksheets. Regroup Ss. 1 group A with 1 group B ( I will make number cards to handout when they are still in their original groups to ensure the new group will have AB pair) Ss ask Who's Steve's sister? Monitor closely that Ss use the TL Ss compare their family trees. T ans a few questions to do FB If time activity: Put Ss in groups of 3. Ask each group to write a sentence about the family on the board. Ss read it use for FB and pronunciation.
