Main Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a debate in the context of happiness.

To provide opportunities and vocabulary for students to speak about happiness
Procedure (45-55 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
teacher shows some pictures and elicits the word happiness. Then teacher gives them a list of items that might make people happy and asks them to check the items true for them.
Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening
students listen to an interview about happiness and check the true items. Then they will discuss the questions.
Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks
students will match the boldfaced words from the previous lecture to their meanings.
Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills
students will discuss the questions given to them about happiness.
Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
