Procedure (39-51 minutes)
Give students 1 minute to revise the learnt vocabulary of fruit and vegetables. T: Today I've been to the grocery store and bought some goods. The teacher takes out the groceries from the shopper and the children name them one by one. T: You can touch everything BUT first you should name them. The task is clear: I pass the grocery to the left person of me and you pass it to another person in a circle and name the fruit or a vegetable. Than I pass another vegetable to the person on the left, you name it and pass it to one anothe.
Hakuna Matata's song plays for a few seconds. There are colorful hakuna matata letters on the board. T: Do you know this cartoon? What is this song about? What is the main concept of Hakuna Matata?" Right! No problem! No worries! Eat whatever you want and go wherever you want! How many characters are there from Hakuna Matata? That's right, two! There are two pictures of characters on the board in a column. From the colored letters hakuna matata, we take one A and put it over Timon, the same with An and Pumbaa. Timon - A. He really likes to eat a worm, a flower and a cucumber Pumbaa - An. It's bigger, so it needs more space in the sentence. He likes to eat an apple, an egg, an onion
There are pictures with food and words where the first letters are highlighted in bold. T: what do all these words have in common in two different categories, why do they stand together, and so on. But Timon and Pumbaa have a diet! They can eat all the nouns that get in their way, BUT! Only in one subject. A table - ❌ tables, an apple - ❌apples. We see that we don't eat objects and throw them awayto the end of the word (tableS)! There are some pictures of nouns on the desk and children help the teacher to match the categories: A - Cucumber, An - apple, -S - Candies
A/an/s baskets/boxes are located directly under the board. The task of the guys is to go to the blackboard and take out one item at a time and send it to the right basket.
T: Now you can EVERYTHING like Tim and Pumbaa. To have lunch you should write down A/An/S in your worksheets. Task: __Apple__ __11 Table__ __Phone__ __3 sheep__ __14 cucumbers__ etc. Check together
On the blackboard: I'd like ..., please. Cards of goods for a pair. T: Were tables yummy for you? No, because we are people and we need to buy groceries and eat real food. Teacher divides the group in pairs. T: Imagine you are a buyer and a seller. To buy something you should say: I'd like ..., please. And the seller should give it for the seller. Then switch places.
