Pre-Intermediate - Grade 10 Lesson 04 level

Description

This lesson plan aims to teach vocabulary related to tourism and travel using the given text. The main focus will be on the new words: international, pyramids, ancient, billion, deserts, entertainment, domestic, culture, and range. The lesson will include various activities to engage students in understanding and using these new words in context.

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand and use the new vocabulary words in a sentence talking about their experiences with traveling

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Define and pronounce the target vocabulary words correctly. 2. Recognize and categorize the words in different contexts (e.g., describing places, cultures, or experiences).

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Greet the class - Call the rolls (Ask whether anyone's absent.) - Ask Ss whether they went traveling during the new year holiday. Encourage them to share their experiences. - Show some printed pictures of pyramids, deserts, and cultural events. - Ask students: "What do you see? Do you know these places?", " Which one of these places do you want to visit?" and other related questions. - Introduce the theme: "Today, we will learn words to talk about travel, culture, and the world."

Presentation (10-15 minutes) • To introduce the target words in context using simple sentences

- Write a story on the board that includes all of the new target words. - Read the text and draw a circle around the new words and ask Ss to give a very brief summary of the story to make sure that everyone understands it. - Ask students to guess the meaning of the new words using related pictures. - Ask students to open their books and clarify the meaning of the words through the given sentences.

Practice (15-20 minutes) • To help students recognize and use the words with guidance

-Divide Ss into groups of two. -Distribute the handout with sentences containing the new vocabulary words. -Have students fill in the blanks with the correct words. Review the answers as a class. Production (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- Divide students into small groups and ask them to create a short dialogue or presentation using the new vocabulary to describe a tourist destination of their choice. - Encourage students to use the new words in their sentences or stories related to travel experiences. -Choose students randomly to come to the front of the class and present their destination using the new words.

Review and homework (2-3 minutes) • Yo enhance students' learning and reinforces the topics they've been taught during this session

- Review the words and their meanings. - Assign students to write a short paragraph about a country they would like to visit, using at least three of the new vocabulary words. - Remind them to study the meaning of the words for the next session
