Description

In this lesson Ss are going to learn some vocabulary related to the body through guided discovery learning. Ss are going to have some controlled and freer practice as well. They are going to play a game.

Main Aims

  • To provide review and practice of body parts

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice and clarification of plural/ singular in the context of face vocabulary

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss are going to watch the Inside out animation for about 3 min. and they are going to answer what do they see? colors? people?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Watch the animation again and write the body parts of the baby. Instruction: watch, write 3 or 4 body parts. ex: nose, eye

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

give them some words. tell the Ss to stick the vocabulary on each other 's body.

Clarification (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

elicit the vocabulary and drill, write the words on the board. arms/ nose/ face/ legs/ hair/ eyes/ mouth/ eyebrow . drill. test Ss and tell them to put their finger on each others eyes/ nose/ arms/...... CCQs: I eat and talk with my .........? I walk with my ....................? what are in your face..........?

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

play dual game.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Ss look at the book and T will elicit what do they see? how is the weather? sunny? cold? in sunny weather do they use sun cream? where are they? listen, and answer what are they doing? say the conversation in pair. mention the plural and singular verbs b examples. do the books exercises. play a game: write their names with their parts of their body: face, arms, legs, nose, ....

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

talk about Why do you think body language is important? How do you use body language in your daily life? Ss in pair draw a painting. Ss A says and B draws.
