Description

In this lesson, students will practice their speaking skills and learn new vocabularies about advertising.The lesson will start with two pictures which have a logo and slogan as a lead-in. Then, students will go over a speaking activity to share their opinion about advertising. This is followed by three activities about vocabularies related to advertising.

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a discussion in the context of advertising.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher will show students two pictures for Nike & Addidas which have their logo and slogan. Teacher will elicit the words logo and slogan from the students. Teacher will differentiate between slogan and catchy.

2b) Speaking activity. (8-10 minutes) • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a discussion in the context of advertising

2b) Work with your partner to discuss the following: 1. Which opinion do you agree with the most? 2. Which opinion mentions an advert for a soft drink? 3. Which opinion(s) might these ideas for adverts illustrate? a. a fast car chase with lots of action. b. an advert with a clever use of few words. C. an advert set on a beautiful island.

Exercise 3 (8-10 minutes) • To provide practice of vocabulary in the context of advertising.

3. Find adjectives in the first two texts in exercise 2a which mean the following: Unit: 5.1 Page: 49

Exercise 4 (5-8 minutes) • To provide practice of vocabulary in the context of advertising.

Match the words connected to with advertising with their meanings. Unit: 5.1 Page: 49

Exercise 5a (8-10 minutes) • To provide practice of vocabulary in the context of advertising.

5a) Choose the correct answer. Unit: 5.1 page: 49.

Feedback and Error Correction (2-3 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Teacher will go over pronunciation if he notices some mistakes from the students during the class.
